How to use the Instagram profile link generator

  1. Type your username in the box, such as jane.smith. The @ sign is optional.
  2. Copy your link. It looks like https://www.instagram.com/jane.smith/ and opens your profile.
  3. Press "Open to test it" to check that it opens the right profile before you share it.
  4. Download the QR code if you want people to scan it from a card, a flyer or a shop window.

Find your link inside the Instagram app

On the iPhone and Android apps, Instagram's Help Center says to tap your profile picture in the bottom right, tap Share profile, then choose Copy link below your profile card. The same screen can also share the card, download it as a video or a QR code, or add it to your Story. Instagram says profile cards are only on the iPhone and Android apps and are not available to everyone yet.

What is my Instagram profile link?

It is instagram.com/ followed by your username. For example, Instagram's own account is at instagram.com/instagram. This tool builds the full link from your username, or tidies a link you paste.

Where do I find my username?

Open Edit profile in Instagram and look at the Username field. It is the name people use to find and tag you, without the @ sign.

Can I copy my link inside the Instagram app instead?

Yes, on the iPhone and Android apps: open your profile, tap Share profile, then tap Copy link. Instagram's Help Center describes this under profile cards and says the feature is not available to everyone yet, so if you do not see Copy link, build it here from your username.

Is the QR code from this tool the same as the one in Instagram?

No. Instagram has its own profile QR code inside the app. The one made here simply contains your profile link, so any phone camera can open it. Download it as a PNG for print or an SVG for sharp sizes.

What if I change my username?

The link contains your username, so it changes with it. Update any link you saved or printed, and make a new QR code.

Does this tool store my username or contact Instagram?

No. It runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored. The Open button simply opens the link in a new tab.
