Can you see who views your Instagram profile? What shows

instagram profileThe short answer
No. Instagram's help pages describe no feature that shows who views your profile, and apps that claim to are not from Instagram. You can see who viewed your story, and professional accounts can see counts of how many accounts they reached. Use those, and a link in bio page, to learn what your audience does.
Linkerzz makes a link-in-bio page builder and is not affiliated with Instagram, TikTok or any other app named here. Facts about other apps were checked on October 16, 2026. Apps change their menus often, so trust the app's own help page if yours looks different.

It is one of the most common questions about Instagram: can you see who looks at your profile? The short answer is no, and this guide explains what Instagram does show, what it does not, and what you can do to learn who your audience really is.
The short answer
No. Instagram’s help pages describe no feature that shows who views your profile. There is no list of visitors, and there is nothing that tells someone you looked at theirs.
What Instagram does show is more limited, and it is useful:
| What | Can you see it? |
|---|---|
| Who viewed your profile | No feature described by Instagram |
| Who viewed your story | Yes, the usernames, and only you can see them |
| How many accounts saw your posts | Yes, as counts, on a professional account |
| Who clicked the link in your bio | Not on Instagram itself |
Story viewers: the one place names are shown
Instagram’s Help Center says you can see the usernames of the people who viewed your story, and that only you can see that list. The same help pages say the person who posted a story can see that you viewed it, and you cannot opt out of that.
So if you want to know who is paying attention, your stories tell you more than your profile ever will.
Insights: counts, not names
Professional accounts, meaning business and creator accounts, get Instagram insights. Instagram describes these as information about the number of people or accounts who viewed, reacted to or commented on your content. You get totals and trends, such as how many accounts you reached, rather than the names of the people behind them.
Do profile viewer apps work?
Instagram’s help pages describe no feature that reveals your profile visitors. That means websites and apps that promise a list of “who viewed your profile” are not from Instagram and have no official way to know. Treat them with suspicion:
- Never give your password to an app or website that asks for it.
- Do not click “verify” links that ask you to log in on another site.
- Remember you cannot check their claims, because the data they say they show does not come from Instagram.
If you gave an app your password, change it now and review which apps are connected to your account.
Can people see that you looked at their profile?
Instagram’s help pages describe no notification for viewing a profile. Stories are different: when you open someone’s story, they can see that you did. If you want to look without leaving a trace in stories, the only reliable approach is not to open them.
How to learn about your audience instead
If you want to know what people do after they find you, look at the actions you can measure:
- Story viewers, for who pays attention.
- Post insights, for what content works, if you have a professional account.
- Link clicks. Instagram does not show who taps the link in your bio, so use a link in bio page that counts them. We cover this in Does Instagram show who clicked your link in bio?.
- Messages and comments, for who takes the time to write.
A Linkerzz page shows how many people viewed your page and how many tapped each link. The free plan shows totals, a daily chart and your top three links, and Pro shows every link and where visitors came from. It does not show names, because it collects no personal data. It does show which links work, which is what most people really want to know.
