The short answer

Open your profile, tap Edit profile, tap Links, add your address and tap Done. Instagram's Help Center says you can add up to 5 websites and that anyone, on or off Instagram, can see them.

A link in your Instagram bio is the one place where a tap can take people off Instagram and onto your website, shop, booking page or newsletter. Here is how to add one, how to add more than one, and what is worth linking to.

These steps come from Instagram’s Help Center page, “Add a website to your Instagram profile”.

  1. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  2. Tap Edit profile.
  3. Tap Links.
  4. Tap Add external link (on iPhone) or Add link (on Android), and enter the address of your website.
  5. Tap Done, then go back.

Open your profile once you are done and tap the link to check that it goes where you expect.

Instagram’s Help Center says you can add up to 5 websites to your profile. Repeat the steps above for each one. Instagram also notes that anyone, on or off Instagram, can see your websites, so only add addresses you are happy to share.

If you have several links, the order matters, because people tend to tap the first one.

  1. Go to Edit profile, then Links.
  2. Tap Options, then Reorder links.
  3. Press and hold a link and drag it up or down the list.
  4. Tap Done on iPhone, or Accept on Android, then go back.

To remove one, open Edit profile, tap Links, tap the link and tap Remove link. There is a separate walk-through in how to remove a link from your Instagram bio.

Five links sound like plenty, but they go quickly: a shop, a booking page, a newsletter, a video, a contact page. Every time something changes, you have to open Edit profile again.

Many people put one link there instead, which points to a page of their own with everything on it. They then change the page, and the address in their bio stays the same. That kind of page is often called a link in bio page. A Linkerzz page is free to start, and the guide how to make a link in bio page walks through it.

A quick checklist

  • Add the link in Links, not in the bio text.
  • Use the full address, starting with https.
  • Open your own profile and tap the link.
  • Say “link in bio” in your captions and Reels, so people know where to look. If someone asks, here is where the link in bio is.
  • Want the same link on TikTok? See how to add a link to your TikTok bio, which needs 1,000 followers or a verified business account.

If you also want to share a link in a Story, that works differently: see how to add a link to an Instagram Story.
